 Covenant House Florida (CHF) provides an on-site health program which recognizes and responds to the actual and potential health and medical problems of the homeless youth residing at its Shelter by:   
    Ensuring that acute medical needs are immediately assessed and met through examination, diagnosis, treatment and/or referral;
    Ensuring safety for all youth from communicable or infectious disease;
    Communicating the values necessary for good health; and
    Allowing youth the choice of informed consent for medical treatment.

 
The Nurses routinely provide the following services:

    Health Assessment (including medical history, high-risk behavior evaluation, domestic violence review, etc.)
    Substance Abuse Assessments for detoxification, if indicated
    Physical Examinations
    Laboratory Tests (tests/screens for communicable conditions, i.e. STDs, pregnancy, tuberculosis, etc.)
    HIV Testing with pre-and post-test counseling
    Pre- and post-natal care
    Medication Observation
    Mental Health Screening
    Pediatric Health Support
    Follow-up Care for Chronic Health Conditions
    Health Education and Counseling (including HIV Prevention, Health & Nutrition, Awareness of Drugs/Alcohol/Tobacco, Tattoos/Body Piercing, etc.)
    Referral to other Health Care Providers
